Started running about 3 months to try to loose 8 lbs. Like outdoor running/jogging. Garmin Forerunner seems fancy, but Inot sure if GPS is needed. The Timex watch is too slient, sometimes can’t hear the beep for interval training. I don’t like the HRM strape. But, I heard strapeless HRM is not accurate. Ipod is great partner, but don’t do HRM. Don’t like to carry so many things during running. Any suggestions?

Hi i’ve got a Garmin Forerunner 50 watch with the strap that goes below on your chest to sense your hate rate. I get to that stage where the watch screen comes up with Heart rate FOUND…then it flashes up 54…then just nothing…the screen shows the two little horizontal lines where the digits should be but it doesnt show my actual heart rate. Does it just flash up every now and then or should there be a constant figure on the watch screen?? I just tested it standing still so the strap didnt move position…nothing again…then when I went for a cycle & still nothing just the two horizontal digit lines. Can anyone help?

I was wonderign what your experiences have been with heart rate monitors. I do a varied amount of exercise and was looking for a watch which will monitor my training and let me review it later on the PC. I have seen the garmin ones but they are expensive. Looking at under 150 to spend. Thanks
